Imagine Your Journey
Meet Alberto.
Alberto has struggled to keep up his grades since beginning the middle school soccer team. He previously struggled in reading around 3rd grade but passed standardized testing that year on the second try. Alberto is currently failing ELA, History and Biology. His obtained 2s on his FAST Reading tests for both 4th and 6th grade. His 5th grade FAST was a 3. Alberto’s standardized reading fluency and comprehension scores are at the 25th and 20th percentile rank.
Learning Plan:
Alberto enrolls in study pods to organize his coursework and upcoming tests and projects. He is taught a study skill and then allowed time to implement the skills with an educator present for support.
Individualized Plan:
Alberto’s standardized testing scores indicated average to at-risk at baseline. But on retesting his reading at 3 months showed scores within normal limits.
Alberto Returns to the Field!
Alberto attends study pods twice a week for two months. His pod instructor documents educational methods used as well as Alberto’s progress. Monitoring shows Alberto learned study strategies and even picks up his reading speed in retesting. Alberto is off the bench and speeding along this quarter!
Meet Erin.
Erin is returning to work after maternity and caregiving for her mother and children. She worries her previous office skills are out of date after a six year employment gap. She is confused on what to highlight on her resume and what she is qualified to do. Erin’s reports strong reading skills, but limited math skills. She has always avoided math tasks in the workplace and it limits her employment options.
Individualized Plan:
She meets with a career consultant who provides training on resume building, interviewing and career selection. Erin completes standardized mathematics testing with a certified educator. She explores instruction based on her goals.
Meet Joseph.
Joseph dropped out of college during his second semester of his sophomore year. He is not sure how many credit hours he has. He never really liked school but thought college was just the next step. He has struggled to find motivation in much outside of his hobbies. He’s applying for jobs but has not had many interviews. His work experience is limited.
Learning Plan:
Joseph is assigned a career coach and meets twice a week with his work group.
